About Me & This Blog

My story is not unusual or remarkable, it is probably typical of a lot of people who struggle with poor mental health.

I started having significant difficulty when I was 16, I went along to my family Doctor who suggested counselling. What followed was 16 years of struggle. I have attended almost every therapy you could think of and every medication going. I have seen Therapist's, Psychologist's and Psychiatrist's.

Then in November 2011 I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
For the first time in my life I now had a diagnosis which explained my various symptoms and behaviours. With that diagnosis came a new treatment option called; Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
Research shows that this treatment can have a huge positive impact on those suffering with BPD. What was once considered a difficult condition to treat is now being overcome by many who undertake and work the DBT treatment.

I am at the very beginning of that journey.
I don't have all the answers.
My sole aim is to share that journey with others.
Like all people with chronic mental health problems, I will have good days and bad.
Recovery will not be easy or linear but my desire is to share that with you so that together we can rediscover hope.
